What documents do I need to register my child?
Original Certified Birth Certificate, Parent/Guardian Identification, Residency Documents (provide one document from Category I and three documents from Category II) and custody documents
What if I am missing a document?
Registration is not considered complete until all required paperwork is submitted, verified and approved. You can email clear copies to kjemilo@district146.org or schedule an appointment to bring them in person.
Where can I get a certified birth certificate?
If your child was born in Cook County, you can order one online through VitalChek or visit the Cook County Clerk’s Office in person for same-day service.
How do I get a copy of my property tax bill?
Duplicate copies of your current tax bill are available through the Cook County Treasurer’s website.
I am divorced/legally separated. Must I submit a custody plan?
Yes, a custody plan or court order is needed.
I live month-to-month and cannot provide a current lease. What documents do I need to provide?
If there is not a current lease, three-months of proof of payment is required along with the district-provided form that needs to be signed by the current landlord.
What are the school hours and drop-off/pick-up times?
Daily School Hours
- Central Middle School
- Drop-Off Begins: 7:30 a.m.
- Students enter the building: 7:50 a.m.
- Instruction Begins: 8 a.m.
- School Ends: 2:55 p.m.
- Elementary Schools (Fierke, Fulton, Kruse and Memorial)
- Drop-Off Begins: 8:40 a.m. (see individual school webpages for details)
- Instruction Begins: 8:55 a.m.
- School Ends: 3:35 p.m.
- Early Learning
- Morning Session: 8:55 a.m. – 11:25 a.m.
- Afternoon Session: 1:05 p.m. – 3:35 p.m.
Pick-up and Dismissal Reminders
- Cell phone use is prohibited in all District parking lots.
- For specific traffic flow patterns and designated drop-off locations, please visit the individual school web pages.
- Students are expected to leave the premises immediately unless they are in a school-sponsored activity.
- Early Dismissal: A parent must go into the main office to sign out their child for any early dismissal.
Central Middle School (CMS) Specifics
- During arrival and dismissal, only buses are allowed in the south lot.
- Drivers are asked to pull up as far as possible to avoid traffic backups and should not drop students off on Oak Park Avenue.
Is before and after-school care available?
Yes, Ivy League is available for students in grades K-8 and is hosted at all elementary buildings within the district.
Before School: Starts at 6:30 a.m. and runs until the start of the school day.
After School: Begins at dismissal and runs until 6:30 p.m.
Which grades require a physical exam?
- Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination are required for Early Learning, Kindergarten, 6th grade and all transferring from out-of-state requires
- Illinois School Dental Examination for Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 6th requires and transferring from out-of-state
- Illinois Eye Examination Report is required for Kindergarten and transferring from out-of-state.
When will I receive my child’s schedule/classroom information?
Your child’s schedule/classroom information will be provided by the child’s school.
