Getting Started

If you have a child between the ages of 3 and 5, please contact our team or complete and submit the screening request.

Residency

Parents will be required to prove residency within the school district. Once residency has been documented, a screening packet will be mailed to you. Upon submission of this packet, an appointment will be scheduled for our next screening date. Click here for residency requirements.

Screenings

Pre-Kindergarten screenings take place at the Administration Center, located at 6611 W. 171st St. in Tinley Park. Your appointment will last about an hour and a half. Please plan your schedule accordingly, and ensure that your child is well-rested and fed prior to the screening time.

Your child’s language, motor, social-emotional, and pre-academic readiness skills will be assessed by a team of Early Childhood teachers and therapists. A school nurse will also conduct a vision/hearing screening. These screenings help to determine if there are any areas of concern in your child’s development, if follow-up or further evaluations are needed, and your child’s eligibility for our Pre-Kindergarten programming or services.

All results will be shared with you during an exit interview immediately following the screening.

Residency within District 146 boundaries must be proven prior to screenings.

Placement

Prior to enrollment, all students must complete District online registration and provide a completed school physical and income verification (ArabicSpanish) documents. If your child is determined eligible for our program, based on availability, he/she will either be placed immediately or put on an enrollment wait list. The wait list is based on weighted eligibility criteria, and students most in need will be placed first. Bus transportation may be available for eligible families - please contact our Early Learning Program Clerk for more information.
